Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Our first holiday season here was full of fun things and good time spent as a family relaxing after a very busy year.
We learned of the Greek tradition of kids going from house to house to sing a Christmas carol, Kalanta. Usually accompanied with triangles and sometimes a drum, it was a loud affair. Luckily we had a collection of good chocolate treats to tip the carolers. They come on Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, and Epiphany.
We visited the zoo with another family from Julia’s school, everyone had a great time. James enjoyed seeing the prairie dog exhibit, and seeing prairie dogs that had dug under and escaped into all the neighboring exhibits. Jessica enjoyed seeing the other parents enjoy seeing giraffes for the first time.
We spent time with Arno and Sahar’s family doing lunch and games and enjoying good conversation.
We’re looking forward to getting back into our routines next week, with Julia return to school and Jessica returning to the One Heart clinic.
